Scientists: Gulf Oil Well Shaft Continues To Leak

Breaking: Scientists at BP are becoming more concerned as a large leak in the oil well shaft continues to grow.
The first 24 hours of the closed off capped well head had appeared to go very well - when at approximately the 26th hour massive amounts of oil and gas began erupting from the sea floor.
The leak is estimated to be approximately 25 to 30 feet to the north of the well head.
Current estimates put the rate of the leak at approximately 1000 to 1500 barrels of oil per hour, spilling a further 25.000 barrels of oil a day into the gulf.
Pressure had been steadily dropping at the well head indicating that a leak was occurring somewhere along the well shaft deep below the well head.
It took 24 hours for this leaking oil and gas to work its way up to the seabed surface.
The BP scientists continue to monitor the leak and have been hoping that the leak would eventually close up and seal itself off.
But unfortunately they have had to accept the fact the the leak has been continually getting larger as the oil and gas carve a new passage way up and through the sea bed.
The PB scientists admit there is no way to stop the leak by any other means than re-opening the well head valves to release the pressure build up.
They hope to have the new oil capture head cap or top hat in place before they reopen all the valves to allow the oil to once again flow up to the surface through the new high capacity well cap and capture line. where the oil and gas will be separated, the gas burnt off and the oil pumped into waiting oil tankers.
Three oil capture tankers are on stand by to receive the oil once the valves are reopened and the top hat oil capture devise is in place.
The Scientists continue to monitor the leak, but continue to be tight lipped on the seriousness of the situation, taking a wait and see attitude hoping things will get better.
